Audience:
This document was prepared for Dr. Monske.
Purpose:
The purpose of this document was to create a list of tasks needed to accomplish our goal of creating one section of the Volunteer Handbook, specifically the sections that address the volunteers directly.
Information Source:
My partner, Amber, and I met with Dan Mitchell, our client, to discuss the needs of the Ishpeming Main Street Program for the creation of a volunteer handbook. By browsing printed and online material geared toward volunteers from other organizations, we were able to create a list of the most common requirements for volunteers. Our research helped us create guidelines for new policies and procedures that we did not encounter in other sources, but were needed due to the specific needs of the Ishpeming Main Street Program.
My Role as Technical Communicator:
I gathered information from our client to put his goals and expectations into writing. Amber and I used our initial interview to independtly draft the table of contents. I also helped research what other volunteer organizations were asking of their volunteers.
Skills and Tools Used:
Microsoft Office 2007 was utilized in order to create a modern, efficient layout of the document. Office 2007's advanced capability was essential in the document's final, professional look. PDF995 is a free print-based driver plug-in used to convert the document to PDF format.
