Synopsis:
According to my classmates, "Serrated Spoons" is "endearing, humorous...and not as weird as your other stories." A play on the phrase "silver spoon," Jon is a young man who is trying to cope with his mother's alcoholism. While he begrudges his condition and searches for independence, he also awknowledges that he needs his mother to help him achieve that independence. Constantly trying to give up on his mother, he manages to earn an apprentiship with a local welder, Buzz. Quirky and aloof, Buzz manages to teach Jon a thing or two about the importance of bonds, and how they can be created with the unlikeliest of materials.
Since this was written for a summer course, I only had ten days to go from concept to draft to revision (I somehow managed two) to final.
